Peapod Pick-Up Customers Now Can Quickly Pick their Favorite Hershey Treat Too
Always innovating to make grocery shopping easier, Peapod by Giant announces a partnership with The Hershey Company (NYSE:HSY) to test a self-service, digital locker and vending machine for grocery pick-up and last minute purchases. Rolling out at a Columbia, MD Giant store to start, shoppers can order online and then pick-up their groceries at any time during the day in a temperature-controlled insulated locker, skipping lines in-store. Looking for an on-the-go treat? With the new locker, shoppers will also be able to make convenient purchases of Hershey products like Reese’s or Ice Breakers.
As the country’s leading online grocer, Peapod is committed to offering value, convenience, and time-savings to satisfy all the ways consumers shop. In addition to delivering to homes and businesses in 24 markets, Peapod has also opened more than 200 Pick-Up locations allowing consumers to shop online and grab their pre-paid and packaged groceries in under 10 minutes.

The self-service digital locker and vending machine is comprised of three different multi-temperature zones (frozen, refrigerated and ambient), a digital touchscreen interface and an integrated digital vending machine. Upon arrival to pick-up the order, consumers will be prompted to enter their code on the digital locker screen to open a locker door to retrieve their order. Shoppers also have an opportunity to buy a single-serve Hershey item at the locker via credit or debit. And the price for the candy is the same as in the store.
The Peapod/Hershey digital locker and vending machine will initially be available at the Giant Store #300 in Columbia, MD at Columbia Palace starting on XXX. Peapod by Giant also offers more than 50 convenient pick-up locations across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
